Black Student Union’s 50th Anniversary Celebration

Friday, September 16

September 16-17, 2022

Please join us as we celebrate Black excellence! The Black Student Union (BSU) has been a cornerstone for minoritized, underserved, underprivileged and multicultural students at UNI for the past 50 years. Formerly known as the Afro-American Society (AAS) and established in 1968, AAS was a platform to make campus a more welcoming and inclusive space for students of color.

In October 1972, the Black Student Union was formed upon the dissolution of AAS. BSU has continued to encourage fellowship among students of color and advances African American culture and Black excellence.

We look forward hearing stories, sharing a laugh and celebrating the last 50 years of BSU with you! Be sure to register for the event while ticket supplies last.
