Black Student Union’s 50th Anniversary Celebration

Friday, September 16

Save the Date for the Black Student Union's 50th anniversary celebration!

September 16-17, 2022

The Black Student Union (BSU) has been a cornerstone for minoritized, underserved, underprivileged and multicultural students for the past 50 years. Formerly known as the Afro-American Society (AAS) and established in 1968, AAS was a platform to make campus a more welcoming and inclusive space for students of color.

In October 1972, the Black Student Union was formed upon the dissolution of AAS. BSU has continued to encourage fellowship amongst students of color and advances African American culture and Black excellence.

From conception, BSU has worked to disrupt inequality, dismantle racism, bring positive change and provide educational resources on campus and within the community.
