MOXIE Events: Building Confidence in Our Girls with Social Entrepreneur and Author Kristi Hemmer, '91

Wednesday, July 07

Pre-registration is now closed, but walk-ups are welcome! We hope to see you July 7 at noon at the UNI Bookstore!

Research shows that 94% of women in the C-suite played sports. Girls who play sports are more confident, have better body image and don’t quit when life is unfair or gets hard. Find out from a panel of experts how to keep our girls gutsy, self-assured and speaking up now and when we’re not around.

The UNI Alumni Association and the UNI Bookstore invite you to join '91 UNI alum Kristi Hemmer, M.Ed., and a panel of female leaders/athletes as they discuss the importance of sports in their lives and in the lives of girls and women. Kristi is a social entrepreneur, educator, world traveler and author of "Quit Being So Good: Stories of an Unapologetic Woman".

Panelists include:

  • Bobbi Petersen, '91, UNI head volleyball coach
  • Jadyn Spencer, former University of Alabama softball player and current UNI Athletics academic advisor
  • Leslie Prideaux, assistant vice president of alumni relations and little league girls' softball coach
  • Payton Ahrenstorff, UNI Volleyball player and  Executive Student Athlete Advisory Committee member

RSVP for the panel at the UNI Bookstore (1009 W 23rd St, Cedar Falls, IA 50613) from 12-1 p.m. on July 7. Learn more about Kristi, her book and her changemaking tour on her website

Can't make the noon panel? Join Kristi at Ragged Edge (504 Bluff Street, Cedar Falls, IA 50613) from 5:30-7 p.m. on July 7. Register for the evening event.
